Just five days after the car configurator and purchase application went live for the $400,000 Ford GT supercar, Ford announced that it received over 7,000 buying apps from potential buyers. Unfortunately for those buyers, Ford only plans on delivering 500 builds.

Still, at $400K, Ford's looking at $200,000,000 for sales of a single supercar. Whoa.ford

Through its application process Ford is mainly looking for future owners that owned the previous GT, and owners that won't be afraid to really drive the cars. If you do get chosen, Ford is also making owners sign contracts that state that they have to keep ownership of their car for a certain amount of time — an attempt to prevent people from just taking delivery and then flipping the car for profit.

When you apply, Ford asks you to tell them about "your style" so that they can make sure you'd be the perfect GT owner.

Also, if you happen to list that you're a 'Public Influencer' (like I did), they make sure that you have all the right credentials and experience to go along with that too.

Okay!

Ford plans on delivering 250 GTs by the end of 2016. For now, you'll have to get in line.
