Tesla Model S P85D

Tesla's mid-range 85-kWh Model S has officially been discontinued.

Now, instead of a confusing six different options available for the Model S, Tesla is trimming its lineup down to a still not-so simple four model line-up.

"The recently introduced 90-kWh battery pack offers unprecedented range and value that has been well received by our customers. As a result, we will no longer be offering the 85kWh battery." Tesla stated to Mashable.

This change up brings the Model S' line-up more uniform with Tesla's crossover, the Model X. The Model X is available in 70D, 90D, and P90D levels.

Earlier this year, Tesla also discontinued its rear-wheel drive 90-kWh Model S.

None of this should be of too much concern, though. The rear-wheel drive base level 70 model is still available, among the more expensive models such as the all-wheel 70D, 90D, and P90D. Most important of all, the P90D's 'ludicrous mode' is still very much available.
